BAYWATCH Hits the Beach in Four New Teasers With Stephen Amell, Jessica Belkin and Livvy Dunne
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantFox is getting ready to hit the beach with Baywatch, and four new teaser promos offer a fresh look at the lifeguards taking over the sand.
The new footage pairs up several members of the cast, including Stephen Amell and Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison and Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell and Brooks Nader, along with Livvy Dunne and Thaddeus LaGrone.
The new Baywatch puts Amell front and center as Hobie Buchannon, the former wild child from the original series who has grown up to become a Baywatch Captain. He’s following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch Buchannon, but his life takes an unexpected turn when Charlie, played by Belkin, arrives at his doorstep.
Charlie is the daughter Hobie never knew he had, and she’s ready to join the family business. She wants to become a Baywatch lifeguard and carry on the Buchannon legacy alongside her dad, giving the reboot a family story at the center of all the beachside action.
Joining Amell and Belkin are Mitchell as Trina, Harrison as Nat, LaGrone as Brad, Nader as Selene, and Beck as Luke.
The series will also bring some familiar faces back to the beach. David Chokachi has a heavily recurring role and will reprise his original Baywatch character Cody Madison. Dunne will guest star as junior lifeguard Grace, with Mary McDonnell playing Gayle and John Beckwith appearing as Julian.
Several other veterans of the original show are also coming back for guest appearances. Erika Eleniak returns as Shauni McLain, Michael Bergin reprises his role as Jack “J.D.” Darius, and Kelly Packard is back as April Giminski.
The combination of a new generation of lifeguards, returning characters, and Hobie taking over as the Buchannon family patriarch gives this version of Baywatch an interesting way into the franchise.
Will it end up being as big and popular as the original series? Probably not, but I’m sure it will find an audience.
Baywatch premieres this January on Fox, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu. Check out all four teaser promos below.
