THE NIGHT AGENT Set to End With Its Fourth Season at Netflix

Netflix has announced that the upcoming fourth season of the streamer‘s hit action thriller series The Night Agent, which began production this week in Los Angeles, will be the series’ last.

While The Night Agent‘s first season broke into Netflix’s Most Popular English series list and stayed there for three years, viewership has slipped in Seasons 2 and 3.

Deadline reports that Netflix data showed there was still solid interest among fans in getting another chapter of Peter’s (Gabriel Basso) heroics as a Night Agent, which led to the series landing a Season 4 renewal. Additionally, Season 3 was well liked creatively by Netflix executives, some considering it the best in the series so far.

With the decision made early, The Night Agent fans will get a proper ending as Season 4 has been conceived with the possibility of it being a final installment in mind.

Creator, EP and showrunner Shawn Ryan said of the show’s announcement, “Ever since the initial success of The Night Agent, I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey.

“I’m so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me on The Night Agent and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season to our worldwide legion of fans. We are hard at work to complete our story and to make our final season one our fans will never forget.”

The final season of The Night Agent has lined up several big-name cast additions, including Bosch star Titus Welliver, Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Li Jun Li (Sinners) and Elizabeth Lail (You) who are set as new series regulars opposite star Basso.

In Season 3, Night Agent Peter Sutherland (Basso) was called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicked off a sequence of events where Peter investigated a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins.
