2026 World Cup: FIFA suspends Folarin Balogun’s red card ahead of USA vs Belgium clash
by Ifreke Inyang · Daily PostFIFA have confirmed that USA striker, Folarin Balogun, is available for selection when they face Belgium in the last-32 of the 2026 World Cup.
The world football governing body, in a shock decision, overruled Balogun’s red card.
The sending off during the 2-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina carried a mandatory one-match ban.
Balogun was dismissed for a challenge on defender Tarik Muharemovic.
“In line with article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the implementation of the match suspension is suspended for a probationary period of one year,” FIFA said in a statement on Sunday.
“If Folarin Balogun commits another infringement of a similar nature and gravity during the probationary period, the suspension shall be revoked and the sanction enforced without prejudice to any additional sanction imposed for the new infringement.”
