Nigerians given fresh hope amid fears of spending Christmas in darkness
by Ifreke Inyang · Daily PostNigerians have been given fresh hope of improved power supply this Christmas period.
This follows an update on ongoing repairs being carried out by the Nigerian Gas Processing and Transportation Company, NGPTC.
Following a temporary shortfall in generation of power, most of the country has been in darkness for a couple of days.
However, in an update on Wednesday night, by the Nigeria National Grid on X, authorities promised citizens that electricity will be restored soon.
“This restoration will enable gas-fired power plants to resume normal operations, leading to improved electricity supply across the country,” the update read in part.
For many years, Nigerians have had decent power supply to celebrate the Yuletide, although there have usually been fuel scarcity.
However, a dramatic twist in market forces has led to the reduction in the prices of petrol, ensuring availability of the product this year.
