Bandits kill two hunters in Kwara community
by Abdulrazaq Adebayo · Daily PostArmed bandits on Tuesday killed two hunters protecting their community in Kwara South Senatorial District.
The hunters were attacked while escorting a convoy from Oro-Ago to Oke-Oyan in Ilere district of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State, DAILY POST gathered.
The bandits also carted away their motorcycles after the attack.
Members in the convoy were saved by the remaining guards who repelled the bandits attack.
Reports said the bandits have details of the local vigilantes, hunters and forest guards and have embarked on their tactical elimination in order to carry out unrestricted attacks in the areas.
Residents of the communities have called on the government to come to their rescue by deploying security operatives.
DAILY POST recalls that armed bandits on Sunday stormed the ECWA church at Omugo via Oro-Ago in the same Ifelodun LGA and abducted eight worshippers, including the wife of the pastor.
Three of the abductees were however rescued by joint security forces.
The attacks are coming on the heels of the threat alert issued on Saturday by Olaitan Zubair, the Coordinator, Joint Security Watch in Kwara South Senatorial District.
Olaitan, also expressed displeasure over the lukewarm attitude of leaders in the senatorial district toward insecurity in the area, charging them to be proactive in the interest of the peoples’ safety.
