Trump labels muslim brotherhood in Egypt, two other countries as terrorist organizations

by · Daily Post

The US President Donald Trump has designated three branches of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations.

The President tagged the Egyptian, Lebanese and Jordanian branches of the organization as terrorists in a move that could impact Washington’s relationships with Qatar and Turkey.

The Treasury and State departments announced the development on Tuesday, asserting that the group poses great risks to the US.

According to the State Department the Lebanese branch of the Muslim Brotherhood has the most severe of its labels.

The Lebanese branch was designated as a foreign terrorist organization, making it illegal to provide material support to the group.

Similarly, the Treasury Department labeled the Jordanian and Egyptian branches as specially designated global terrorists for providing support to Hamas, Fox News reports.
