Police arrest two burglary suspects, recover household items in Yobe
by Shehu Usman · Daily PostOperatives of the Yobe State Police Command have arrested two men in connection with a burglary and theft at Red Bricks Housing Estate, Damaturu, the state capital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said in a statement that the suspects were arrested on August 7 by operatives of B Division, Damaturu, following a report lodged by a complainant.
According to him, the divisional police team launched an intelligence-driven investigation after the incident was reported, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 27, and Ayuba, 23, both residents of the same address in Damaturu, were interrogated and confessed to the offence.
Items recovered from them include one 50-inch Samsung Galaxy Smart TV, three sets of bedsheets and one large carpet.
The police said the items have been documented and secured in the exhibit room, while the complainant has identified and confirmed ownership.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to determine whether there were other accomplices involved in the crime.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the police or other security agencies, noting that timely information is critical to public safety.
