Seven dead as military helicopter crashes in Qatari waters
by Sunday Dennis · Daily PostSeven people have been confirmed dead following a helicopter crash in Qatar’s territorial waters, according to statements issued on Sunday by authorities in Qatar and Turkey.
Both the Qatari and Turkish defence ministries said the aircraft went down after experiencing a technical fault during what was described as a routine operation.
Among the victims were four personnel of the Qatari Armed Forces, one member of the Qatar-Turkey joint forces, and two technicians, the authorities disclosed.
Despite the incident, the Turkish Ministry of Defence noted that ongoing military cooperation between Turkey and Qatar remains unaffected.
“Military cooperation and coordination activities between the Republic of Turkey and the State of Qatar continue uninterrupted within the framework of existing agreements and plans,” the ministry said.
