Tinubu wins with 389,197 votes at APC presidential primary in Akwa Ibom
by Lovina Anthony · Daily PostPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged winner in the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary election held across Akwa Ibom State on Saturday, May 23.
He secured a total of 389,197 votes cast by party delegates across the state, as announced by the State Collation Officer, Pastor Umo Eno, the governor of the state.
Governor Eno commended party faithful for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, describing the outcome as a reflection of the confidence and support President Tinubu continues to enjoy among APC members in Akwa Ibom State.
The primary election witnessed massive participation by delegates and stakeholders from the 31 local government areas of the state.
In his remarks, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, commended the governor for his peaceful disposition and the party faithful for their orderly conduct during the exercise.
He also commended the APC National Chairman for opting for direct primaries, saying that such a system had reduced incidents of rancour and violence during primary elections, citing previous cases where lives were lost at party primaries in Akwa Ibom.
While congratulating President Bola Tinubu for the overwhelming victory in the state, he assured him of replicating same during the 2027 presidential election.
