Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has welcomed the safe return of the students abducted from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami expressed condolences to the family of the slain vice principal, whose death highlights the security challenges facing schools in the state.

He described the rescue as a relief to the families and the wider community. Malami also urged state and federal authorities to strengthen security measures, improve early-warning systems, enhance intelligence sharing, and adopt proactive strategies to prevent similar attacks.

Malami emphasized that children must be protected from such terror while pursuing their education and called for a collective commitment to safeguard schools and communities in Kebbi and across Nigeria.

The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, who confirmed the development on Tuesday, said families of the abducted students are already en route ahead of a formal handover ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, after which the girls will be reunited with their parents.
