2027: YPP releases details for congresses, primaries, national convention

The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, has decided on the dates of the party’s ward, local government, state and national congresses.

The NEC also set the date for the party’s national convention and released list of prices for the different categories of forms.

The decisions were made at the 25th meeting of the NEC at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Friday, where the timetable for the conduct of congresses, primaries and the national conventions was ratified.

It said that its ward congresses will take place on 21st May 2026, followed by Local Government Congresses on 22nd May 2026, while State-level congresses will take place on 23rd May 2026.

On the primary elections, YPP said that the House of Assembly primaries will be conducted on 24th May 2026; House of Representatives & Senate on 25th May 2026; governorship on 26th May 2026, while national convention and presidential Primary come up on 30th May 2026.

The party also announced the prices for its nomination fees for various elective offices as follows: Expression of Interest will be given for free, House of Assembly goes for, N1.5m, House of Representatives – N3 million, Senate – N8 million, Governorship N20 million and Presidential – N50 million

The NEC further approved a 50% concession on nomination fees for young aspirants below 40 years, women and persons living with disabilities.

The sale of nomination forms commences immediately.

For Anambra State, the NEC also resolved that the position of State Chairman be zoned to the Anambra Central Senatorial District, while the position of State Secretary remains in the Southern Senatorial District.

The NEC approved that elections at all levels within the Party shall be conducted using both consensus and direct primary methods, in accordance with the Party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
