- Minister for Energy and Climate Darragh O’Brien will bring plans for a boiler scrappage scheme and grants for solar battery storage to cabinet for sign-off next week.
- A convicted murderer who absconded from Derry last week and has been on the run since has been arrested in Donegal, the PSNI confirmed.
- TikTok was grilled at the Oireachtas media committee today, with TDs and Senators telling the social media giant that their response is “not good enough”.
- There will no longer be discounted alcohol available to purchase in shops by using a loyalty card, as the health minister has progressed legislation to sever these deals.
- Animal rights group Peta has offered what it described as a “fin-tastic” deal to the DUP communities minister – but it comes with a vegan “catch”.
- Taoiseach Micheál Martin moved to dampen expectations around this year’s budget, telling reporters in New York the government “can’t do everything for everyone”.

#MIAMI: US President Donald Trump invited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit of world leaders in Miami in December, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed today.

#METOO: Harvey Weinstein, who was at the centre of abuse allegations that spurred the #MeToo movement in Hollywood, was resentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a former production assistant.
#IRAN: Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian accused the US and Israel of committing “terrorism” against his country, a day after Donald Trump threatened to “annihilate” the country if a peace deal cannot be reached.
PARTING SHOT
OVER TWENTY YEARS on from the 1995 Oscar-winning production of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, the classic tale is to return to cinemas on Friday in a new film.
