A new Steam leak has revealed details of upcoming and unannounced games

A few weeks ago, a massive leak of over 12TB of data was harvested from Steam via an unprotected endpoint that allowed anyone who found it to access the files. The data was from over ten years ago but contained builds of games that were never released, prototypes and lots of other data.

Today, a new leak occurred when the achievements for a huge batch of games were made public, clearly something that should not have happened.

While achievements themselves are not particularly damaging, their descriptions can be.  The leak includes details on the worlds found in Kingdom Hearts 4, and a huge amount of information on Persona 6, including the location, characters, and mechanics found in the game.  It also seems to show that the Thief remaster will come with a new mission.

On top of all that, there are listings for unannounced games based on The Walking Dead, Shrek, 80s TV icon Alf, and, rather amazingly, Twin Peaks.

One other game has also gained a huge amount of attention due to its title. It’s called Penis Bird.

Other games in the leak include Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theves, Horizon Hunters Gathering. Attack on Titan 3, Deus Ex Remastered, and Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival.

Steam has not commented on the new leak.

The owner of Exophase, the site that tracks the achievements and the original source for the leaks, posted on ResetEra.

“Seems like a possible screw up on Valve’s end, a bunch of games with achievements that should be private are accessible through the API right now and that’s why they got scanned into the site. I usually never see games without an actual name pop up with achievements, yet over the past hour or so a bunch have (when there’s an unknown name we just set it to the AppID).”
