The Division Resurgence is now playable on PC – season roadmap revealed
by Stefan L · tsaUbisoft has outlined the seasonal roadmap for their free-to-play mobile shooter The Division: Resurgence… but it’s not only available on iOS and Android anymore, with an official PC release now available in early access.
That’s right, the mobile spin-off is now playable with no limitations on PC, and using Ubisoft Connect, it allows for full cross-progression and cross-platform support. This is, strictly speaking, a technical test with an official launch set in August, but from a performance perspective, it should perform excellently well across a swathe of mid-low end PC systems. It is a scalable mobile game, after all.
Ubisoft has also outlined what to expect through The Division: Resurgence’s seasonal content map. Each season will run for four months, but is subdivided into phases, each of which will last three weeks and refresh some of the content, add challenges and events, and bring a new Classified Ops battle pass.
Season 1 will kick off on 12th May, while the full launch of the PC version will arrive in August, but it won’t be until Season 3 that there will be a significant story expansion in December. And that’s a bit of a problem.
In our review, I felt that the story was a weakness of this game – set one month after the original The Division 1 – and its pace drawn out in the final third. There is the Dark Zone, but for PvE players, the repetitious grind will have long set in, and there’s no real endgame raids or similar, just higher difficulty runs of the missions. I concluded, “I have enjoyed playing The Division: Resurgence, but it’s a rediscovered joy of improving my character stats and churning through looter shooter missions. There’s the foundations here for more, but with a low stakes main story, and too many points of friction through the UI and gameplay, the main thing it’s made me want to do is go back and play the console games.”
But I do want to check out how it feels to play on PC.
