Justice Sujoy Paul appointed as new Chief Justice of Telangana High Court
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe Union government has appointed Justice Sujoy Paul as Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, following transfer of the Chief Justice of the High Court Alok Aradhe to Bombay High Court.
A notification issued by the Union Ministry Law and Justice on Tuesday (January 14, 2025) stated that the President appointed Justice Sujoy Paul to perform duties of Telangana High Court Chief Justice consequent to transfer of Justice Alok Aradhe. Justice Sujoy Paul is presently senior most judge of Telangana High Court.
Born on June 21, 1964, he completed graduation and post-graduation in law from Rani Durgavati University of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. He enrolled as advocate with the Madhya Pradesh Bar Council in 1990. He was elevated as Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court on May 27, 2011 and made permanent Judge on April 14, 2024.
On transfer, he assumed charge as Judge of Telangana High Court on March 26 last year. The date for swearing in ceremony of the new Chief Justice for Telangana High Court is yet to be announced.
