Justice Sujoy Paul appointed as Telangana HC CJ

The Union government appointed Justice Sujoy Paul of Telangana High Court as its Chief Justice, following transfer of the present Chief Justice of the HC Justice Alok Aradhe to Bombay HC.

In a notification issued two days ago, the Ministry of Law and Justice said the President had appointed Justice Sujoy Paul to perform the duties of the office of the CJ of Telangana HC consequent to transfer of CJ Alok Aradhe to Bombay HC.

Born on June 21, 1964, Justice Sujoy Paul completed LLB and LLM courses from Rani Durgavati University of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. He enrolled as an advocate with the Madhya Pradesh Bar Council in 1990. After over two decades of practice as lawyer on various matters at the HC, he was elevated as judge of MP HC.

On April 14, 2014, he was made permanent judge. He was transferred to Telangana HC on March 26 last year.

In another development, the Supreme Court Collegium approved the proposal to appoint four judicial officers as judges of Telangana HC. The SC resolution said a decision was taken in its meeting held on January 11 to appoint Renuka Yara, Narsing Rao Nandikonda, Tirumala Devi Eada @ Thirupathamma K and Madhusudhan Rao Bobbili Ramaia as Judges of the HC.
