Jharkhand BJP’s manifesto promises gas cylinder at ₹500 and five lakh jobs

To counter Hemant Soren government’s cash scheme, BJP promises ₹2,100 every month to women. The party has also promised ₹2,000 every month for undergraduate and postgraduate students for up to two years.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (October 5, 2024) released ‘Paanch Prana’ (five promises) targeted at youth and women of Jharkhand as part of the party’s election manifesto for the upcoming State Assembly polls.

The manifesto promises ‘Gogo-Didi Yojna’ under which financial assistance of ₹2,100 would be given to eligible women every month to empower them.

In the Santhali language, Gogo means mother. The Opposition party has launched the scheme to counter the Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojna, a scheme started by Chief Minister Hemant Soren under which financial assistance of ₹1000 is being given to women between 21 and 50 years.

While briefing about the five promises, Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi said the BJP always fulfilled the poll promises. As per the manifesto, all the households would be able to purchase LPG gas cylinders at ₹500, and two cylinders will be given every year free of cost during festive seasons.

The manifesto also promises five lakhs jobs to youth in the next five years. Besides, 2,87,500 vacant posts in government departments will be filled, and the appointment process will start after November 2025, it said, adding that 1.5 lakh more posts will be filled when Jharkhand will complete its 25 years of formation.

Mr. Marandi promised that there would be timely examinations, timely results and timely appointment letters.

For the convenience of students preparing for competitive exams, he promised to provide financial assistance of ₹2,000 to undergraduate and postgraduate students for up to two years every month. The fifth promise the BJP made is to build house for everyone.

The manifesto was released at the party office in Ranchi by Mr. Marandi, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Amar Kumar Bauri, Koderma MP Annapurna Devi, former Union Minister Arjun Munda, and BJP in-charge for Jharkhand Laxmikant Bajpai.

The BJP will soon release another 25 key points of its manifesto to mark the 25 years of formation of the Jharkhand State.
