Storm Conall is set to hit the UK tonight and bring heavy wind and rain to the south of England.

The Met Office announced that Storm Conall, named by Dutch Met Service, will hit the UK at around 10 pm tonight (November 26) and will continue throughout the night. The news of Storm Conall comes shortly after Storm Bert battered the UK with heavy rain, which led to severe floods in parts of the country, particularly in the south.

There are currently more than 90 flood warnings across the UK, including one severe warning. Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said “Much of the warning area will see 15-20 mm of rain, with 30-40 mm in some areas. There is a lower chance of 50 mm of rain in a few places, more likely for areas such as the Isle of Wight, Sussex and Kent, before rain eases and clears by early afternoon. Given the recent wet weather, some disruption to travel and infrastructure could be possible.

“Along with the rain, things will turn colder from tomorrow for all, with frost and some freezing fog possible.”

The Met Office said that from Thursday, we will continue to see below average temperatures, with a cold, frosty and potentially icy start for some. Otherwise, it will be a fine day with light winds and a fair amount of sunshine in many areas, although freezing fog patches could persist in a few places.

They can't predict how long the more settled, colder conditions will last, but they have predicted that rain will "probably return to westernmost areas at least by the end of the week".

There are two yellow weather warnings in place until 12 pm tomorrow in the south of the UK and Wales.

After hitting the south of England, Storm Conall will move east past the UK into the southern North Sea and will bring some strong impactful winds to the Netherlands during Wednesday.

The country has been hit hard with weather over the past week, firstly when the UK recorded its first sub-zero temperatures of the season, which came with some heavy snowfall in parts of the country,

Shortly following the freeze, the country was then hit by Storm Bert, which brought heavy disruption including floods, power cuts and road closures.
