Full list of UK areas affected by new Met Office snow warnings for Tuesday and Wednesday

The Met Office has issued three more yellow weather warnings following this week's snow and freezing conditions.

Many areas in the UK woke up today to find a dusting of snow outside, with the worst hit places being high up in the Scottish hills.

Due to the snow, disruptions have been caused across the country, with school closures, road closures, and transport delays, including trains and flights.

Now the Met Office has issued three more weather warnings for snow and ice which includes North East England, Northern Ireland and Wales.

The update was issued around 10am this morning and the warnings are in place all of Tuesday and Wednesday, and come to an end on Thursday (21 November).

In Northern Ireland, the Met Office weather warning states: “Wintry showers and icy surfaces will lead to difficult travel conditions on Tuesday evening, overnight into Wednesday morning.”

The Wales weather warning reads: “Snow and ice may lead to difficult travelling conditions on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.”

And in North East England and Yorkshire, the warning says: “Snow and ice may lead to difficult travelling conditions on Tuesday evening, overnight and during Wednesday morning.”

A snow and ice warning, issued on Monday, remains in place until Wednesday ,prmomg for northern Scotland and Shetland.

The Met Office has warned people to look out for icy patches on roads, pavements and cycle paths. They said some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times so you should allow more time for travel.

In addition, the Met Office warns people to be aware of the risk of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued the first amber cold weather health alert of the season, warning that conditions could be dangerous for vulnerable people, including the elderly.

The amber warning covers the east and north of England, the Midlands, and Yorkshire and the Humber, with yellow alerts coming into place for the South East, South West and London at 8am on Tuesday, lasting until 6pm on Saturday.

Dr Agostinho Sousa, from the UKHSA, said: “This is the first amber Cold Weather Health Alert of the season, but we can expect more as we approach winter, and it is vital to check in on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours to ensure they are well prepared for the onset of cold weather.

“Particularly if they are elderly or otherwise at increased risk.”
