Good Morning Britain hosts leave fans divided as ITV programme makes major change in show first
by Jasmine Allday · Manchester Evening NewsGood Morning Britain viewers were left with mixed feelings on Tuesday when the ITV programme introduced a significant alteration.
In a departure from the norm, main presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls took to Washington to anchor the show, while Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway remained in the studio as usual, joined by newsreader Ranvir Singh.
The broadcast centred on the US election, but it was the inclusion of American weather updates that really caught viewers off guard. One viewer expressed their disinterest on social media: "Like we're interested in American weather . #GMB," and another echoed the sentiment with, "We do not need USA weather ....jeez #GMB."
Some fans also pondered the necessity of Susanna Reid and Ed Balls making the trip across the pond, reports the Mirror.

A viewer commented: "There's not even one thing that they will be to say or to demonstrate in Washington that couldn't have been done better in GMB's London studio #gmb."
Another chimed in with a quip: "Are we watching Good Morning Britain or Good Morning America! ? #GMB."
As yesterday's programme wrapped up, Ed and Susanna announced their imminent departure for the States. Ed mentioned on air: "Susanna, grab your bags; we're about to go," as Susanna added: "Tune into Good Morning Britain tomorrow live from Washington."

Susanna Reid revealed to Radio Times her plans for the upcoming US election coverage, stating: "Ed Balls and I are flying straight out to Washington DC after hosting Good Morning Britain on Monday 4 November. We'll be soaking up the atmosphere. Then we'll be on the ground, presenting the election results programme on the Wednesday morning."
A familiar face on the show for many years, Susanna originally co-hosted with Piers Morgan. Following his departure, she has worked alongside a variety of male presenters, including Ed Balls and Richard Madeley, sharing presenting duties regularly. Kate Garraway also features prominently on the programme, either anchoring or reporting the news, a position occupied by Ranvir Singh today.
