Man United learn extent of Lisandro Martinez injury ahead of Ruben Amorim debut
by Jack Flintham · Manchester Evening NewsManchester United's Lisandro Martinez is grappling with a hip injury that has hindered his ability to 'function normally'.
The star player withdrew from Argentina's squad for the November internationals on Tuesday, following a challenging journey to South America due to a cancelled connecting flight. Upon arrival, he was evaluated by medical staff after sustaining an injury in United's victory over Leicester on Sunday.
Despite playing the full 90 minutes against the Foxes, Martinez's injury has left new head coach Ruben Amorim uncertain about the player's fitness ahead of his first game in charge against Ipswich on November 24. Martinez is now returning to Manchester for further treatment.

D Sports reports that scans conducted in Argentina revealed a significant hip issue. Although he managed to complete the match against Leicester, Martinez has reported 'discomfort' and difficulties in 'functioning normally' since the injury.
It is believed that the injury occurred when he was struck in the hip by a knee. In response, Argentina's manager Lionel Scaloni has enlisted Lens defender Facundo Medina as a replacement for the upcoming matches, reports the Mirror.
Martinez struggled with injuries throughout last season after an impressive campaign in his debut year in England. The former Ajax defender is one of United's first-choice centre-backs but if missing, Amorim will need to look for a Plan B.
One potential replacement is Leny Yoro. The Frenchman has yet to make his competitive debut for United due to injury but he has returned to the training pitch at Carrington ahead of the Premier League's return.
