XL Bully killed in ‘deliberate attack’ as two men arrested over dog’s death

Two men have been arrested in connection with an XL Bully's death after a dog was "deliberately attacked" in Slough.

Thames Valley Police confirmed the suspects arrested, aged 20 and 22, were detained at an address in Berkshire where a large amount of cannabis was also discovered.

Officers said the dog was "deliberately attacked and seriously injured" in the town on September 29. The animal was rushed for emergency treatment but later died from its injuries.

The two men were arrested on Friday on suspicion of criminal damage, causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B. The 20-year-old suspect was also arrested on possession of an offensive weapon.

Thames Valley Police said: "Officers have arrested two men in connection with a fatal attack on a dog in Slough. The officers arrested the pair, aged 20 and 22, and both from Slough, at an address in the town on Friday.

"The officers also searched the address and found a quantity of cannabis. The arrests were in relation to a dog being deliberately attacked and seriously injured in Burnham Lane at around 6.05pm on 29 September. The dog, whose breed remains unconfirmed but is thought to be an XL bully, was taken for emergency treatment but died from its injuries."

The two men have been released on bail until January. A 31-year-old man, from Slough, was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B. He has been released on bail until the new year.
