What UK time is UFC 309 tonight? Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic fight start time

Jon Jones returns for the first time in over a year tonight as he looks to successfully defend his heavyweight title against MMA legend Stipe Miocic

by · The Mirror

Jon Jones will be looking to successfully defend his heavyweight title for the first time later this evening against former champion Stipe Miocic.

'Bones' comes into the clash off the back of winning the vacant title last year against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. The fight with the Frenchman was Jones' first fight in the cage in three years - a decision win against Dominick Reyes back in 2020. Ahead of the first defence of his 265lb belt, Jones has hinted that it could be the last time MMA fans see him inside the octagon. As for Miocic, the 42-year-old has not fought since suffering a brutal knockout defeat to Francis Ngannou three years ago.

The co-main event tonight sees a blockbuster rematch between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler. In the first encounter, fans were treated to one of the best fights of the year. While Chandler enjoyed a lot of success in the opening five minutes, Oliveira eventually knocked out the former Bellator lightweight champion out in the second round. Here is everything you need to know about tonight's fights...

Jon Jones: "See the disrespect in you calling me a b****, Stipe. The disrespect didn't have to happen. You're gonna wish you didn't say that. You shouldn’t have called me a b****, the disrespect wasn’t necessary. Let’s play."

Stipe Miocic: “I will go as far as I have to in this fight, I don’t care what I have to do. He’s never seen anything like me. I’m going to hurt him a lot, I promise you that. I am going to beat his a** and walk out with the belt around my waist. Bring it on b****, bring it on b****. Now we’re finally here. I’m just praying he’ll be there… Right now, I don’t know, but we’re going to find out. I’ll tell you this, I’m going to touch that chin a lot.”
