Chelsea will be looking to continue their strong start to the season when they make the tough trip to Anfield to face Liverpool later today.

A 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest before the international break put an end to Chelsea's five-game win streak across all competitions. Next up for Enzo Maresca's side is one of the toughest games of the season, with Chelsea making the trip north to take on Liverpool.

The last meeting between the two sides saw Liverpool emerge victorious in the Carabao Cup final, with the Blues losing 1-0 in extra time at Wembley. Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana will both miss the Anfield clash through suspension, but there are no injuries in the Chelsea squad, meaning Reece James could return to the squad for the clash later today.

So, can Chelsea put an end to their nine-game winless run against Liverpool? Let's take a look.

We simulated Liverpool vs Chelsea to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Jota, Diaz.

We predict that Chelsea could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Sanchez; Gusto, Tosin, Colwill, Veiga; Caicedo, Enzo; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson.

It was the hosts who were on top in the opening stages at Anfield, with Robert Sanchez being called into action twice in the first 15 minutes to deny Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz. The latter was causing all sorts of issues for Chelsea, and he played a big part in Liverpool taking the lead just before half-time.

Diaz beat MaloGusto to a loose ball on the left before beating Moises Caicedo for pace to reach the edge of the box. His cut-back for Ryan Gravenberch was fired towards goal, and Sanchez could only parry the shot into the path of Mohamed Salah who reacted quickest to poke the loose ball into the net.

Three minutes later, Diogo Jota headed home Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross from close range, but the flag was up, with the striker in an offside position. Chelsea began the second half the better team, and after a period of possession, the Blues managed to draw the game level.

A misplaced pass from Ibrahima Konate allowed Veiga to pick up possession, with the defender fizzing the ball into the feet of Nicolas Jackson. From outside the box, Jackson fired a fantastic shot onto the post, and the rebound fortunately fell to the feet of substitute Pedro Neto who tapped into an empty net.

In the 94th minute, one long ball forward saw Cole Palmer surge through one-on-one with Caoimhin Kelleher to catch out the Liverpool high line, giving the Englishman the chance to win the game. Palmer's shot was well saved by Kelleher into the path of Jadon Sancho, and on the rebound, the 'keeper made another miraculous save to tip Sancho's effort wide of the post from point-blank range, denying the Blues a late winner at Anfield.
