The release date for Marathon Season 2
Season 2 of Marathon releases on June 2, likely at the standard weekly reset time of 1:00 PM EST/10:00 AM PST. When the time comes, the game will undoubtedly receive a major patch, and there could be a bit of server instability when things come back online.
When you load back into Marathon, your account will be wiped. All the weapons, keycards, money, faction progress, and more will be reset to their original state. You will be at the same level as the rest of the community, no matter how many hours your opponents have in the game.
You don’t lose access to the factions themselves, as you don’t need to repeat the Liason quests, and all your cosmetic items, paid and free, will not reset. Much of your Codex will also remain — you’ll keep everything tied to lore, in-match progress, and so on.
You will need to do all the faction Contracts again, and any saved Contract rewards will also be reset at the seasonal wipe. Access to the likes of Cryo Archive is also probably restricted until later in the season to give players time to restock their gear inventories.
If you want to take part in the pre-wipe version of Marathon, Bungie has you covered. Cryo Archive is open for business every day, there are new ways to get keys, in-run events are guaranteed on the non-Cryo maps, and loot will otherwise be improved.
Yes, everything you collect will disappear on wipe day, but the chaos of pre-wipe extraction shooters is a long-celebrated tradition. Put another way, the beginning and the end of any season in Marathon will likely be its best times.
See you starside, runner.
