Xbox has made it clear that the company is hard at work on Project Helix, its next generation console. The company isn’t ready to share concrete details on the system, but a new report from Fortune claims that Microsoft is planning to release the console in the 2028 holiday season.

Fortune’s report also claims that Xbox will release a next-generation handheld device in late 2027. It’s also said that Project Helix is currently projected to cost between $1,200 and $1,800, unless Microsoft decides to subsidize the console.

The report also claims that Microsoft is planning an overhaul of Xbox Game Pass, which would transition the service to an a-la-carte format in which subscribers select the benefits and perks they want.

Asha Sharma previously described Xbox’s next generation as a “family of devices.” As we await official word from Xbox, stick with Shacknews.
