Last month, Ludovic Mbock, a member of the fighting game esports scene, was detained by U.S. immigration officers in Baltimore, Maryland, after attempting to renew his work permit. After weeks of rallying from his friends and family, a judge has granted Ludovic bond.

Aftermath reported that a Maryland judge granted bond to Ludovic Mbock. In a statement to the outlet, Nikhil “Aeriqui” DeLaHaye said that the judge was moved by the outpouring of support that Ludovic had received since his February detainment.

As the story goes, Ludovic Mbock went to a the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Baltimore field office on February 17 to renew his work permit when things went sideways. He was detained by officers and eventually transferred to Louisiana and then Georgia. His detainment came after a series of unjust arrests (and killings) by ICE and other U.S. immigration services.

Ludovic’s arrest led to a groundswell of support from the fighting game community, which he is a longtime member of. A Street Fighter fan, Ludovic has appeared at numerous FGC events over the years. After the community came to his support, he’s back home.
