There are 519 developers assigned specifically to The Witcher 4
Numbers shared by CD Projekt RED also reveals the company has grown in size since the end of April.
by Sam Chandler · ShacknewsThe Witcher 4 now has 519 developers assigned specifically to its production. This is an increase since April, with Cyberpunk 2 and other projects also seeing a few more developers at CD Projekt RED assigned to their creation.
On September 2, 2026, CD Projekt RED released an update on its current project allocation. The numbers show an increase of developers at the company since April, with the studio growing from 975 to 1,045. This increased workforce size has seen six more developers be assigned to the production of The Witcher 4, bringing the total staff working on the project to 519.
The Cyberpunk 2 project has grown from 163 to 184, Sirius has gone from 83 to 84, Hadar from 24 to 33, and Shared Services from 173 to 196, with remaining staff categorized as “Other.” The Shared Services segment includes localization, central quality assurance, data, insight and experiences, and motion capture.
The Witcher 4 was first confirmed in development back in March 2022, and four years on, CD Projekt RED stated it was aiming for a 2028 release.
Recently, CD Projekt RED announced that The Witcher 3 will receive a free upgrade at the end of September. This is a remastered version of the game which features a treasure trove of improvements.
