A man has been arrested after threatening to blow up Nintendo's Kyoto Headquarters
The man had reportedly sent letters to employees claiming to have planted bombs on the premises.

On May 12, 2026, Kyoto police arrested a man who allegedly sent lettered to Nintendo threatening to blow up its headquarters. The 27-year-old Japanese man is unemployed and had reportedly sent letters to Nintendo employees saying he planned to blow them up and his plans could not be stopped. Automaton Media notes that he threatened that he’d already planted bombs in the building.
Nintendo reported this to police, which resulted in officers searching the area. Thankfully, nothing was found. KTV reports that the man admitted to the charges, and police are investigating his motives.
In December 2023, Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo was postponed due to threats to audience and staff. Following on from this, the World Championships for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 3 were canceled as Nintendo decided that customer safety could not be fully secured.
