Valve hikes Steam Deck prices as stock replenishes
Valve cited component costs as a cause for the price increase.
by Donovan Erskine · ShacknewsValve has announced that the Steam Deck is back in stock after three months of unavailability, but with one large catch: prices have gone up by a substantial amount.
Valve posted a message to announce the restocking of the Steam Deck and confirm the price hikes. The 512GB OLED Steam Deck now costs $789 USD (was $549 USD). The 1TB OLED Steam Deck is now priced at $949 USD (was $649 USD).
The Steam Deck had been sold out since mid-February, when Valve also confirmed that it ended production of the LCD model. Refurbished LCD Steam Decks are still available.
“These new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole,” wrote Valve. The new price increases on the Steam Deck will certainly lead to even more speculation about the Steam Machine, which is still without a price or release date.
