Help Keep the Streets Of Our Shchuna Clean
A community-led initiative to keep Kingston Avenue clean and welcoming during the busy month of Tishrei is once again calling on Crown Heights residents to help support the year-round street cleaning effort.
by COLlive Editor · COLliveIn 2021, a new initiative to beautify and clean up Kingston Avenue, the main street in Crown Heights, was started by a local resident during the month of Tishrei.
During Covid, Sam Stern, a local businessman and activist from Crown Heights, started an initiative to clean up the streets of Crown Heights after a long period of time when the Sanitation Department wasn’t doing any street cleaning.
The campaign was a huge success B”H and the community’s response was overwhelmingly positive!
We are currently entering our third year of the cleaning campaign and once again we turn to our community, friends and fellow residents to join and support this effort as what started as a Tishrei project, has quickly become a year round operation.
As a community, we have thousands of people that walk through our streets on a daily basis to visit Crown Heights. The biggest impression we can make is of cleanliness which in turn is G-dliness. We ask that you please participate in funding our campaign and in ensuring a cleaner Crown Heights.
The services of a private street cleaning company will clean Kingston Avenue every morning. The street cleaners will sweep Kingston Avenue from Lefferts Avenue to Eastern Parkway every day throughout the month of Tishrei and will hopefully continue bi-weekly throughout the year.
“Between the Tishrei festivities and foot traffic, it is simply too much for the NYC Sanitation to handle the street cleaning.
“We need your help. Any amount will show you care and are happy to see this happen.”
A committee has been formed to oversee this beautiful yet vital Project.
