Young Shluchim and Shluchos From 31 Countries Return From Sweden Camp

Each summer, Tzeirei Hashluchim Sweden welcomes over 100 children of Shluchim from around the world. The six weeks are filled with singing and dancing, learning and farbrengens, trips, activities and friendship - all within a warm Chassidishe atmosphere.

Each summer, Tzeirei Hashluchim Sweden welcomes over 100 children of Shluchim from around the world. The three-week girls’ camp was led by HCs Tzirel Goldberg and Rivka Namdar, followed by the boys’ camp, led by HCs Levi Schechte and Levi Namdar.

“Camp is a chinuch necessity,” said Rabbi Alexander Namdar, who directs the camp together with his wife, Leah. “For children growing up on Shlichus, especially in small communities, having this time surrounded by other young Shluchim and Shluchos is incredibly important.”

The six weeks are filled with singing and dancing, learning and farbrengens, trips, activities and friendship – all within a warm Chassidishe atmosphere.

Mussia Lazaroff of Texas, a girls’ camp counselor, said, “The care and concern for each and every girl attending camp is unlike anything I’ve seen before. In Tzeirei Hashluchos Sweden, it isn’t camp with Ruchnius on the side. Every moment of camp is Ruchnius; every moment involves the Rebbe. As a staff member, I left feeling way more connected to the Rebbe, with much more drive and fire to fulfill the Rebbe’s Inyonim.”

Mushka Feldman of Connecticut, a former camper and staff member, shared:

“There are camps where everyone becomes a friend, and there are camps where you become family. Tzeirei Hashluchos is both,” she said. “As a camper, it’s the most awaited part of the year, giving me the koach to continue my Shlichus throughout the year. As a staff member, it’s where I give back to the place that changed my life.”

Yocheved Wilhelm of Oslo, who attended from age six and later joined the staff, said:

“You can really see how every camper gets exactly what they need,” she said. “The care you get…You come home every year feeling like a completely new person. Most importantly, you become so incredibly emotionally connected to the Rebbe.”

Bina Stiefel of Slovakia, whose two sons attended this summer, shared their excitement upon returning home. One son won an entire set of Likkutei Sichos, donated by Mendel Galperin, l’ilui nishmas Menachem Mendel ben Osher ע״ה.

“B”H, the Likkutei Sichos – as well as Meir and Yehuda – have just arrived safely in Slovakia!” she said. “They B”H came home on such a high, and no doubt the chayus and energy they received over the past three weeks will keep them going until the next camp, be’ezras Hashem!”

Campers and staff came from 31 countries: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Barbados, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Nigeria, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and Ukraine.

The United States was represented by 9 states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Texas and Wisconsin.

This summer marked Tzeirei Hashluchim Sweden’s 52nd camp session, B”H.

The camps are a project of Chabad Sweden, directed by Rabbi Alexander and Leah Namdar, established in partnership with Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky ע״ה. The partnership continues with MyShliach of Merkos Suite 302, under Rabbis Mendel and Mendy Kotlarsky and Rabbi Mendy Shanowitz.

Leah Namdar says, “Our deepest thanks go to this year’s incredible staff and to every staff member throughout the years; to the dedicated parents who entrust us with their precious children; and to everyone who helps make these camps possible.
