Rabbi Levi Lipinski opened the presentation with a video and song expressing the inner thoughts of a mechanech who gives so much to his talmidim, yet still wonders whether his words are getting through and whether his efforts are having the impact he hopes for.
Then came the story of Dovi Okonov.
Dovi, a young student who struggled with learning, was featured in a video together with his father, Rabbi Yossi Okonov, and his teacher, Rabbi Shimmy Gerlitzky. Their words showed what can happen when a mechanech looks beyond a child’s difficulties, recognizes his strengths, and gives him the confidence to believe in himself.
For Dovi, that belief made a real difference. With Rabbi Shimmy’s encouragement and support, he began gaining confidence in himself and, importantly, started being able to learn properly and experience success in the classroom.
The presentation culminated with Dovi joining Rabbi Levi Lipinski on stage to sing “A Rebbi’s Dream.”
The message was simple yet powerful: a mechanech may sometimes wonder whether he is reaching a child, but the difference he is making can already be very real. Sometimes, the encouragement of a teacher is exactly what allows a Talmid to see himself differently and begin to succeed.
For the hundreds of mechanchim gathered at the banquet, it was a moving expression of the responsibility and opportunity they carry each day, to see a child, believe in him, and help him recognize the potential within himself.
And ultimately, that is the dream at the heart of chinuch itself: to raise a generation of children who are frum, ehrliche, warme, Chassidishe Yidden, fulfilling the Rebbe’s vision for chinuch and preparing the world for the coming of Moshiach.
The banquet was produced by Dovid Weinbaum, with technical production by Dovi of Zikron Digital. The music and lyrics were created by Moishy Goldstein, and the video was produced by Shamai Chein of 321 Motion.
