As Election Day approaches, Agudas Chassidei Chabad International reminded Lubavitcher Chassidim and Shluchim of Chabad’s longstanding policy on election participation and political endorsements.

In a letter signed by Chairman Rabbi Avraham Shemtov, the organization reiterated the Rebbe’s directives encouraging voting while maintaining political neutrality.

“We would like to reiterate here that it has always been the clear policy and direction of Chabad Lubavitch, based on the Rebbe’s instructions over many years, to encourage voting in US elections,” the letter states.

At the same time, Rabbi Shemtov emphasized that the Chabad-Lubavitch movement does not affiliate with or endorse political parties or candidates.

The letter also cautioned against creating the perception of partisanship, even while maintaining working relationships with public officials.

The message comes ahead of this week’s midterm elections on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Voters across the United States will decide control of Congress and elect governors and other officials in races nationwide.

All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats are on the ballot, with Republicans seeking to maintain their majorities in both chambers and Democrats aiming to regain control. The results will determine the balance of power in Washington for the remaining two years of President Donald Trump’s term.

Beyond Congress, voters in 36 states will elect governors, including in New York, California, Florida and Texas. Thousands of state legislative seats, along with other statewide and local offices, are also being contested. Voters in many states will also decide ballot measures on taxes, election laws, and other public policy issues.
