KUCHING (Oct 7): Another new chapter in history is written by Amateur Tenpin Bowling Association of Sarawak (Abas) as two of its key officials were appointed to the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) recently.

At the MTBC annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 29, Abas president Sunny Si Poh Heng was nominated and elected uncontested as the deputy president while Abas vice president Robert Lu Nam Min retained his post as senior vice president unopposed for another term.

Si is the first Sarawakian to hold the No. 2 post on the national body. Prior to his appointment as MTBC deputy president, the Abas president since 1988 had served as MTBC general councilor from 1988-1996 and 2015 until now, national development committee member from 1991-2004 and vice president from 1996 to 2004. Lu was MTBC vice president from 2012-2020 and senior vice president from 2020 until now.

“The nomination and election is an honour to me and Abas. It’s a recognition for Sarawak’s contribution since Abas was formed.

“We are looking forward to working closely with the new president Dato Mohd Najeeb Abdullah to bring Sarawak and Malaysia tenpin bowling to greater heights,” Si told The Borneo Post.

Lu took it as an honour to being returned unopposed as senior vice president.

“I am glad that our Abas president is now the deputy president for MTBC.

“Of course, we are happy to serve MTBC and moving forward in Malaysian tenpin bowling,” he remarked.
