KUCHING (Feb 28): The Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) is exploring new opportunities within the green economy as part of efforts to strengthen its financial sustainability.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, LAKMNS chief executive officer Datu Abdul Hadi Kadir said the move is in line with advice from Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a courtesy call by the board’s leadership at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi.

He said the Premier had encouraged LAKMNS to expand strategic partnerships with relevant entities to create sustainable income streams and ensure long-term financial stability.

“My colleagues and I were advised to collaborate with several related entities so that we can collectively harness our strengths to generate sustainable revenue for LAKMNS,” he told reporters after the meeting.

Abdul Hadi noted that mosques play a broader role beyond religious functions, contributing to holistic community development.

“If there are opportunities to generate income through sustainable energy sectors, we will explore them,” he said.

Also present during the visit were LAKMNS deputy chief executive officer Mohamad Feisal Said and other officials.
