SIBU (Dec 23): The final judging session for the six Christmas trees at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 1 was held today, as part of the ‘A Christmas in Borneo’ programme.

Councillor Simon Wee, the organising chairman, said the winning entry will be announced on Christmas Day (Dec 25).

“The winning entry will bag the RM3,500 prize, with the presentation ceremony to be taking place at the main stage on Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 1.

“This year, only the winner will receive a prize,” he told The Borneo Post.

Wee explained that entries were judged on multiple criteria, including the ‘wow’ factor, overall design, day and night aesthetics, creativity, and considerations of durability and sustainability.

He noted that judging for the night display had taken place earlier, on Dec 15.

This year’s participants include Eco Green Electrical Sdn Bhd, JN Littleshop, Kolej Laila Taib, Me Homeward Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Seni Bumi Contractor Sdn Bhd, and I-Concept Event Agency.

Each tree stands at an impressive 20 feet (over 6 metres) tall, showcasing festive spirit and creativity in Sibu’s city centre.
