KUCHING (Dec 23): A total of 145 residents from the Tanjong Datu state constituency received Christmas contributions and ‘Back-to-School’ assistance during a handover ceremony in Lundu on Sunday.

Its assemblyman Azizul Pehin Sri Adenan said that the aid benefitted 23 underprivileged individuals and 20 children with Christmas assistance, while another 100 recipients received school bags through the Back-to-School initiative.

He expressed appreciation to the Sarawak government for providing various forms of educational assistance to students from primary school up to higher education institutions.

“Students who meet the criteria may submit applications by visiting the Yayasan Sarawak official website for detailed information on the assistance offered, such as laptop aid and other programmes,” he said.

Azizul added that the Tanjong Datu ADUN Service Centre remains ready to assist applicants who encounter any difficulties or shortcomings during the application process for state government aid.

He also reminded the management of houses of worship to submit a report each time a grant from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) is disbursed, to ensure future applications are not adversely affected.

“Unifor has received complaints that some grant recipients have failed to submit reports, and this could complicate the approval of subsequent applications,” he explained.

Present at the event were the political secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Draup; Lundu District officer Awang Yusup Awang Mostapha; as well as PBB Tanjong Datu Branch deputy head Abdul Razak Abdul Wahab and vice head Sintu Layang.
