SDMC: 3,890 flood victims sheltered at 41 centres across Sarawak

KUCHING (Jan 11): A total of 3,890 flood victims across Sarawak are seeking shelter at 41 active temporary evacuation centres, according to the State Disaster Management Committee.

In an update at 8am today, the Serian division continues to record the highest number of evacuees, with 2,311 victims from 700 families.

This is followed by the Samarahan division, with 636 victims from 196 families.

Those affected by the second flood wave on Saturday include Kampung Hilir, Kampung Hulu, and Kampung Slabi Entukuh in the Serian division.

A total of 325 victims from Kampung Hilir and Kampung Hulu are being sheltered at the Serian Community Hall, while an additional 29 are placed at the Serian closed basketball court. Meanwhile, 60 victims from Kampung Slabi Entukuh are being housed at the village hall.

In Selangau, Sibu, 238 victims from Rumah Jambai and Rumah David are being place at SK Bukit Arip.

In Bintulu, 227 victims from Rumah Olen @ Rumah Eloh, Rumah Usah@Selajat, Kampung Muslim Segan, Rumah Alam and Rumah Jigan Setiam are being sheltered at Bintulu Civic Centre.
