Body of second teenage victim found in Bintulu drowning incident
by Conny Banji · Borneo Post OnlineBINTULU (March 22): The body of the second victim in a drowning incident at Sungai Plan Lot Waterfall in Kidurong here has been found.
A statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the victim, identified as Darren Dakun Paruscrum, 12, was discovered at about 11.19pm on Saturday by members of the public.
“Bomba Kidurong received a call from the public informing that the second victim had been found and immediately rushed to the scene.
“The body was found at a similar location and depth as the first victim.
“Firefighters assisted in bringing the body to the riverbank before handing it over to the police for further action,” the statement said.
Earlier, the first victim, Tristan Mariss Marissa Erna, 12, was recovered at around 5.20pm the same day, about five metres from the riverbank at a depth of nine metres.
According to Bomba, both victims had been bathing at the waterfall with two other friends prior to the incident.
They were last seen at about 2.30pm before being reported missing.
The search and rescue operation was subsequently concluded following the discovery of the second victim.
