Saratok police issue 12 summonses during New Year crime prevention operation
by Michael Ubam · Borneo Post OnlineSARATOK (Jan 2): Saratok police issued 12 summonses after inspecting 25 individuals and 30 vehicles during an integrated crime prevention operation ahead of the 2026 New Year celebrations.
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the operation, conducted from 9pm on Dec 31 to 2am on Jan 1, aimed to deter crime and strengthen police presence in identified hotspots across Kabong, Saratok, and Roban.
“A total of 25 individuals and 30 vehicles were inspected, with enforcement action taken against offenders to ensure compliance with the law,” he said in a statement, detailing that the individuals include 15 men and 10 women, 18 motorcycles, seven cars, and five vans and four-wheel-drives.
The 12 summonses were issued under PDRM (K) 257 for various traffic and related offences, particularly involving motorcyclists.
The operation included patrols and snap checks in public areas such as markets, villages, and residential neighbourhoods to curb index crimes, including vehicle thefts.
“Such operations will continue to maintain public safety and prevent criminal activities, especially during festive and high-risk periods,” Mathew added.
A total of 23 police personnel, including two officers and 21 rank-and-file members from crime prevention, traffic enforcement, and criminal investigation units, were involved in the operation.
