Lakiput association briefs Resident’s Office on upcoming events

MIRI (Oct 7): A delegation from the Sarawak Lakiput Association (PLS) recently paid a courtesy call on Miri Resident’s Office to extend an invitation to the association’s fundraising dinner next month.

PLS vice president Zaini Esie led the delegation, in representing president Gabriel Karl Wing who was away for work in Sydney, Australia.

On hand to receive the delegation was the Resident’s Office’s assistant administrative officer Esther Dau Micheal.

Gabriel, who joined the virtual visit via Zoom, said the fundraising dinner will be held this Nov 29 at the Eastwood Country & Golf Club here, to raise funds for the Adiit Mucuu’t Kiput festival next year.

The charity dinner, he said, is expected to be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,.

Others expected to attend are Baram MP Datuk Anyi Ngau; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department cum Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala; Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government cum Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil; and Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau.

The committee, he added, aims to promote cultural understanding of the Kiput community through the hosting of the Adiit Mucuu’t Kiput festival.

The association’s patron Dato Seri Josephine Duyuk Tuah, who also joined the visit, called for support from public and private entities in buying dinner tickets that are priced at RM700, RM1,000 and RM2,000 per table.

Organising secretary Dora Mohamad Leong, meanwhile, said the association is inviting those who want to promote their products and services, to advertise in their ‘Suara Satu Warisan’ magazine which is to be launched at the charity dinner.

Also joining the visit were community leaders Penghulu Benedict Wak, Ketua Kaum (KK) Moses Belulok, KK Medlie Moss, and Kampung Hizrah Baram committee chairman Jaffar Sani.
