Police seize 31 motorcycles, issue 151 summonses in Ops Samseng Jalanan in Kuching

KUCHING (Dec 21): A total of 31 motorcycles were seized and 151 traffic summonses issued during Ops Samseng Jalanan conducted here from Dec 20 at 9.30pm to Dec 21 at 4am.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation was carried out to curb the activities of road bullies and to ensure road users comply with traffic laws and regulations.

“The 31 motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for illegal modifications.

“Meanwhile, 151 PDRM (K) 257 summonses were issued for various traffic offences,” he said in a statement.

Alexson added that from Jan 1 to Dec 21 this year, a total of 26 individuals were arrested for offences under Section 42(1) of the same Act.

“Within the same period, 298 motorcycles were seized under Section 60 and 2,622 summonses were issued,” he said.
