Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Skipped the 2026 Met Gala for the Cutest Reason

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle skipped the 2026 Met Gala “Costume Art” red carpet, but please be advised that they had other plans! Or, at least Meghan did. People reports that Meghan spent the weekend in Chicago to attend the First Communion of her close college friend’s child at the Holy Name Cathedral.

Per a source, the Duchess of Sussex (who, reminder, went to Northwestern University in Chicago) arrived to the church early, “waited with other families and friends in the pews,” and didn’t use any special or fancy accommodations. In other words, she was just like anyone else supporting their friend’s child!

Meghan and Harry have been together for 10 years at this point (they started dating in 2016) and seem more in love than ever. Last year, Meghan told Time100, “A confession I can share with you today is that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. To have a husband and a partner who is so supportive and kids who are healthy and happy, I never imagined at this point I would feel so happy and grateful, and I really do.”

So sweet. Hope to see them next year at the Met Gala!
