Harry Collett Reacts to Jacaerys’ Shocking Death in ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 Premiere

Rhaenyra Targaryen cannot catch a break. House of the Dragon Season 3 premiered on HBO last night, and didn’t wait long before shocking fans with another death: Rhaenyra’s son, Jacaerys Velaryon (aka Jace), was shot with arrows and drowned—along with his dragon, Vermax.

Speaking to Variety, actor Harry Collett said, “It was really hard to act dead—it’s actually one of the hardest acting I’ve ever done in my life. It was really fun, but also really challenging trying to keep my eyes open in the water and staying afloat, while also not getting any up my nose. Otherwise, I’d cough, and obviously I’m not dead if I cough. So that was quite challenging.”

Harry knew Jace’s death was coming, so he was “taking the days as they come and enjoying myself and just being grateful to be on this show in the first place. When I read Season 2, normally Ryan calls you to tell you what is gonna happen this season. I didn’t get a call, and I was like, ‘Is he just waiting until like we get to the script read?’ But, no, it got skipped in Season 2, which I’m very grateful for. It’s great that it gets to be the first episode that people see for this season.”

House of the Dragon airs Sunday nights on HBO and promises to be an explosive season (if you’ve read the source material…you know!).
