Iranian lawmaker calls for changes to negotiating team, blames 'lack of precision'

Iranian lawmaker Mahmoud Nabavian called on Tehran Saturday to switch up the negotiating team that is trying to reach a deal with the U.S. to end the war.

"Given the failed experiences of negotiations with the United States, which, due to a lack of precision and wishful thinking about the enemy, have led to considerable losses, and given that, unfortunately, former members are also involved in the current negotiations, we respectfully request that the esteemed Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council reconsider the composition of the negotiating team under the current sensitive circumstances," Nabavian wrote on X.

Qatar, who has been acting as a mediator between both sides, pushed back Friday against reports suggesting negotiations between the U.S. and Iran had collapsed, insisting that both countries are continuing efforts to reach an agreement.

CENTCOM launches Task Force Iron Gate to crack down on 'illegal shipments' to Iran

U.S. Central Command announced Saturday that it launched a task force "that will support ongoing U.S. government efforts to prevent Iran from using ground routes to transport advanced weapons and other materials."

"Adm. Brad Cooper has directed the formation of Task Force Iron Gate, an internal staff of approximately 20 civilian and military personnel based in Tampa, Florida," CENTCOM said a statement. "The new CENTCOM team will coordinate with other U.S. government agencies on preventing the movement of advanced weapons systems, dual-use technologies, sanctioned materials, and illegal revenue streams across Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea."

CENTCOM said the ongoing U.S. military blockade of Iranian ports has so far prevented Iran from exporting $25 billion in crude oil.

"The establishment of Task Force Iron Gate reinforces the success of our ironclad blockade against Iran at sea," added Cooper, the commander of CENTCOM. "Strengthening CENTCOM's collaboration with U.S. interagency partners will further constrain Iran's ability to finance terrorism, rebuild weapons factories, and replenish their military."

Iran claims its military is 'stronger' since Operation Epic Fury began

Iranian Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia claimed Saturday that the country's military is "stronger" now than when it began the war against the U.S. in February, a report said.

“Today, the Islamic Republic’s armed forces… having gained experience from direct confrontation with the United States and the Israeli regime, are on higher alert and are stronger than they were at the beginning of the war. They now possess greater motivation, commitment, and self-confidence,” Akraminia told Iran's IRNA news agency, according to the AFP.

The remarks come despite the U.S. saying Iran has suffered heavy military losses during the war.

Trump said in June that Iran has "been defeated militarily, with no Navy or Air Force."

US offers up to $20 million reward for information on Iran's nuclear program

The U.S. is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation assistance for information about Iran's nuclear program, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday.

In a post on X, CENTCOM highlighted the State Department's Rewards for Justice program, which is seeking information about Iran's nuclear facilities, equipment and personnel involved in the program.

The reward also covers information about the movement of nuclear-related materials, equipment or personnel, including individuals in the scientific community.

The announcement comes as President Donald Trump considers renewed military strikes against Iran while Washington and Tehran continue negotiations over the country's nuclear program.

Trump reiterated Friday that Iran would never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon, pointing to previous U.S. military operations targeting Tehran's nuclear facilities.

Iran pushes for Middle East security arrangements 'without interference from extra-regional powers'

Iran's foreign ministry said Saturday that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged countries in the Middle East to set up "regional security arrangements without interference from extra-regional powers."

Araghchi wrote on his Telegram account that, "over the past 48 hours, in separate telephone conversations with 12 of my counterparts from Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Cyprus, Turkey, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Iraq, and Pakistan, we reviewed and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and the consequences of the escalating actions" of the U.S. and Israel.

"In these consultations, while explaining the principled positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I emphasized the need to respect the national sovereignty of countries, stop aggression and threats, avoid destructive foreign interventions, and the responsibility of regional countries in preventing the spread of insecurity," Araghchi wrote.

"I also emphasized our country's legitimate right to defend its sovereignty and national security and the need to form regional security arrangements without the intervention of extra-regional powers," he also said.

Iran's IRGC says its ballistic missile range limit has been 'lifted for us'

Iranian Gen. Hossein Mohebbi claimed Saturday that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) self-proclaimed limit of 1,200 miles on the range of its ballistic missiles has been "lifted for us."

Mohebbi made the remark during a news conference in Tehran where he was asked about the limit on missile ranges. Iran is not known to have missiles that can go beyond the 1,200-mile limit — a range that puts parts of Greece and the Balkans, the entire Arabian Peninsula, the Levant and most of Egypt within reach, according to The Associated Press.

“That restriction has been lifted for us," Mohebbi reportedly said.

He did not say whether Iran had missiles capable of exceeding the limit, saying only Iran would “demonstrate these capabilities in practice” rather than make statements.

The comments come after Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei called on Iran last Saturday to confront any threat "with an immediate, effective, and unrestricted geographical response."

Trump declines to confirm US role in reported strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island

President Donald Trump declined Friday to say whether the U.S. was responsible for reported missile strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island, while acknowledging that American forces have conducted limited strikes against Iranian air defenses.

Asked by a reporter whether the U.S. carried out the reported strikes, Trump responded, "I don't want to talk about it. We do minor strikes, but they knock out. They built a little bit of an anti-aircraft device, and we knocked it out in about 15 minutes, maybe five."

Iranian state media reported that two projectiles struck the Suza area of Qeshm Island, according to Reuters.

Trump did not specify where the U.S. operation he described took place or whether it was connected to the reported strikes on Qeshm Island.
