by Ryan Canfield · Fox NewsYou know a season hasn’t gone according to plan when just five weeks into the year, the CEO is apologizing to the fan base.
The Tennessee Titans are 0-5 this season and haven’t provided much hope for their beleaguered fan base. Titans CEO Burke Nihill is empowered to speak on behalf of controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk and has admitted the product on the field hasn’t been good for a while.
"The first thing I would say back to the fans is just that we're sorry," Nihill told ESPN on Friday. "There's nobody in this building that doesn't feel ... a sense of grief about it, because not only are we fans of the team as well, but we feel the sense of responsibility to deliver. And we've let our fans down because football is supposed to be fun."

"I think it starts on the field and the state of the franchise. We're 0-5, and that's not nearly good enough. It hasn't been for a while."
The Titans hired head coach Robert Saleh in the offseason, and general manager Mike Borgonzi is in his second season. With 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward entering his second season, the Titans were hoping to emerge as playoff contenders .
Instead, the results have been dismal. The Titans have scored the fewest points per game (11.6) in the NFL. Their defense has been solid, as they are tied for 11th in the NFL, allowing 21.8 points per game, but it hasn't been enough to overcome a hapless offense and get in the win column.
Despite that, Nihill has confidence in the Titans’ leadership.

"I personally feel a sense of stability," Nihill said. "I believe that Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh are ultimately going to get this team out of the woods and restore it to competitive football. The train is on the tracks. It just hasn't picked up momentum, but it will.
"I can confidently say this organization is in a place where there is organizational belief in Mike, in Robert, and they absolutely have all the support they need to get this train moving and moving faster."
The two constants for the Titans in recent years have been change and losing. They have lost 33 of their last 39 games and are on a seven-game losing streak that dates back to last season. They have won just six games since the start of the 2023 season.
