AEW’s Steven Borden hospitalized after scary injury during match at All Out

Steven Borden made his first appearance at an All Elite Wrestling (AEW) pay-per-view on Saturday night when he teamed with Darby Allin to take on Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at All Out.

Borden, the son of pro wrestling legend Sting, has been working his way up the ladder in the sport as he bears a striking resemblance to his father. He and Allin were looking to become No. 1 contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championship with hopes of lining up some gold in the near future.

All four men in the ring were cooking up something special. Borden and Knight were attempting a must-see moment in the ring but things went awry.

Knight was on one side of the ring and Borden was on the other. The two were perched on top of the turnbuckles and were trying to go coast-to-coast at each other. Knight appeared to connect with his move, but Borden came down hard and appeared to hit the back of his head on the mat.

An AEW referee stopped the match and Knight and Fletcher were declared the winners.

AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone provided an update on Borden during the show, saying the wrestler was conscious and responsive and was taken to the hospital for a further evaluation.

AEW owner Tony Khan addressed Borden’s injury in the post-event media scrum.

"Thankfully, Steven Borden (is) awake, responsive at the hospital. He had a CT scan and all the tests have come back good," he said. "So far, all good results and we are hopeful Steven is going to fly home tomorrow to his family."

It’s the best update one can get given the circumstances. Nobody ever wants to see a pro wrestler, or any athlete, go down with an injury. In-ring injuries are just as common as those that occur on the football field or basketball court.

For Borden, hopefully, he will be able to get back in the ring soon.

Knight and Fletcher, for now, have a future date with the Young Bucks. Nick and Matt Jackson won the tag team titles in a three-way ladder match against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage and Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler.
