by Zee Media Bureau · Zee NewsIndia weather update: In a major respite for millions fighting extreme heatwaves and soaring temperatures, an enormous change in the weather pattern is expected to unfold across India this Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a detailed forecast warning of rains, thunderstorms, winds, hailstorms, and even a drop in temperatures.
Various atmospheric circulations responsible for nationwide respite
According to the weather department, a number of active atmospheric systems have led to a major change in the weather pattern affecting various parts of North India, the South peninsula, and even the Northeastern states.
According to the IMD, several cyclonic circulations are currently active across Pakistan, Assam, Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea. Along with this, troughs are passing through Northern and Central India. Together, the two have created ideal conditions for bringing moisture from the oceans onto land in the form of rains.
Severe warning for rains across multiple states; thundershowers for Delhi-NCR
The IMD forecasted thunderstorms and rains across Northwest, Central, Eastern and Peninsula India.
Severe warning for rains: Various parts of Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Coast of Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura would witness heavy rains.
Delhi-NCR outlook: Citizens residing in Delhi as well as the NCR would also have a reprieve from the scorching heat. As per the forecasts of the weather department, clouds will cover the sky along with gusty winds and light thunder-showers. Although there might not be any rains in the city but these weather elements will lead to a fall in temperatures during the day.
Temperature fall by 5 to 7 degrees celsius
In recent days, heatwaves have ravaged the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh with temperatures rising above the 45°C level in many areas of these states.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a temperature fall is anticipated in north-west India by 5 to 7°C. In addition, central parts of India will experience a gradual fall in temperatures during the coming days.
Hailstorm alert issued for Vidarbha
Apart from bringing a change in weather conditions, the situation also holds some dangers. IMD has especially issued an alert for heavy hailstorms in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra on Saturday. On the other hand, intense dust storms are expected to hit western parts of Rajasthan.
The weather department warned that there would be significant decreases in visibility, which might affect transportation on roads as well as flights. Citizens have been advised to be cautious and take all necessary precautions due to these unpredictable weather patterns.
Advance of monsoon while governments raise regional warnings
On the other hand, the Southwest Monsoon has continued its progress steadily. The IMD said that the weather situation still remains highly conducive for the advancement of the monsoon season into new areas of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, resulting in rainfall throughout the season.
In preparation for these possible dangers, regional warnings have been sounded by some states' administrations. Farming communities, travelers, and outdoor workers have been advised to exercise maximum care in avoiding dangers like lightning, destruction of buildings due to heavy winds, and hailstorms.
