Slough House devotees can rejoice as Apple TV+ has confirmed its relatable spy series “Slow Horses” has been renewed for a sixth season.

The show, based on Mick Herron’s hit novels, stars Gary Oldman as the intractable and slovenly Jackson Lamb, who leads a band of MI5 rejects nicknamed the “slow horses” including River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung), Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar) and Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves).

Kristin Scott Thomas also stars as MI5 deputy boss Diana Taverner alongside Jonathan Pryce, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke and Samuel West.

Previous seasons have included appearances from Hugo Weaving, Joanna Scanlan, Sope Dirisu and Olivia Cooke.

Season 4, which had its season finale last week, saw Cartwright learn some deeply personal news after escaping a rogue CIA officer (played by Weaving) while a beloved member of the Slough House team came to a sticky ending.

Season 6, which will again consist of six episodes, sees the misfits on the run as they find themselves embroiled in a high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge thanks to frenemy Taverner.

It is set to be adapted by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe. Season 4 director Adam Randall returns to helm Season 6.

“Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure,” says Jay Hunt, creative director for Apple TV+ in Europe.

“Slow Horses” is produced by See-Saw Films. Executive producers are Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski and Gary Oldman.
